The European Union recently published a much-delayed report on Palestinian textbooks that found a school curriculum that incites to antisemitism and violence and encourages martyrdom.

The report had supposedly been ready as early as February but was likely suppressed due to its explosive contents. An expose by German newspaper BILD led EU, German, and Norwegian lawmakers to take the EU Commission to task for preventing the report's publication.
Furthermore, in an independent assessment of the EU report, IMPACT-se, an organization that analyzes schoolbooks and curricula for compliance with UNESCO-defined standards on peace and tolerance, independently assessed the EU report, highlighted inconsistencies, and attempts to bury uncomfortable findings in the footnotes.
"The Executive Summary and Conclusion are incongruent with the body of the report; they argue that textbooks align with UNESCO standards, while the actual analysis of the report shows widespread antisemitism, violence, dehumanization, and rejection of peace, a clear violation of UNESCO standard," IMPACT-se maintained.

Last week, 22 members of the European Parliament from a range of political parties called on EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to withhold aid to the Palestinian Authority over the curriculum.
In addition to antisemitism, the books glorify terrorists, reject any overtures toward peace, encourage violence against civilians, and promote jihad and martyrdom.
A majority of Palestinian textbooks include maps that erase the State of Israel, portray the land between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea as Palestine, make no reference to towns and cities exclusively established by Jewish immigrants - Tel Aviv is not charted on the maps - and refer to Israel as the "Zionist occupation."
