The Sea Breeze 2021 naval exercise will be held between June 28 and July 10 in the Black Sea and will be cohosted by the US Navy's Sixth Fleet and the Ukrainian Navy.
The maritime maneuvers have been held annually since 1997, with a growing number of nations joining the exercise. While largely a NATO training event, dozens of non-NATO countries will be involved, as participants or observers.
Naval forces from 32 nations will be taking part in Sea Breeze 2021, including the United States, Ukraine, Britain, Israel, Albania, Australia, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, Denmark, Egypt, Estonia, France, Georgia, Greece, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Morocco, Norway, Pakistan, Poland, Romania, Senegal, Spain, South Korea, Sweden, Tunisia, Turkey, and the United Arab Emirates.
The list makes this year's drill be the largest joint exercise in the event's history.
The maneuvers in the Black Sea will involve over 5,000 troops, 32 vessels, 40 aircraft, and 18 diving and commando teams.
The US Navy said that the 12-day exercise will include, among other things, "amphibious warfare, land maneuver warfare, diving operations, maritime interdiction operations, air defense, special operations integration, anti-submarine warfare, and search and rescue operations."
