The Defense Ministry's Archives on Monday released, for the first time, hundreds of recently declassified documents pertaining to the 1973 Yom Kippur War.

The documents include the minutes of cabinet meetings, including the one where then-Prime Minister Golda Meir was informed of the Arab armies' surprise attack on the Jewish State.
The documents were only recently declassified. Their release to the public was coordinated by the Defense Ministry and the State Archives, and authorized by a special government commission.
