This year's Hadera Yahel Center conference, "A Rainbow of Cultures: To Be Or Not to Be," will be held on June 7, 2021. The conference will address the challenges of ensuring patients' compliance with mental health treatment across various cultures and communities in Israeli society, such as the Arab, Russian, Ethiopian, and Haredi communities. Such challenges require specially tailored responses, due to the differences between these groups.

The Yahel Centers, part of the Association for Excellence in Psychiatric Rehabilitation, operate in collaboration with the Health Ministry and provide services to family members of persons coping with a mental disability, including parents, spouses, children, siblings, and any other individual/s considered significant for the patient.

Clients can receive the service free of charge and without a referral from another health service provider, aiding them in overcoming the initial barrier of acknowledgment of the mental disability and their need of assistance. The centers are located in Rishon LeZion, Hadera, Kfar Saba, and Ashdod, and also operate from other branches.

The Yahel Centers emphasize the family's strengths and central importance in the rehabilitation process, providing an open and attentive dialogue and responding to the needs and expectations of families from different communities and cultures. Self-compassion contributes significantly to the patient's emotional health, wellbeing, and resilience and assists in coping with challenges and difficulties.

The conference will feature lectures by social workers who will present the specific challenges encountered in each community and culture, the special characteristics of each group, and the optimal way of providing appropriate treatment.
