Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas said in a televised speech Wednesday that Israel was engaged in "organized state terrorism and war crimes" in Gaza which is "punishable under international law."

According to French news agency AFP, He said that Palestinians "will not hesitate to prosecute those who commit such crimes in international courts."
Earlier this year, the International Criminal Court opened an investigation into possible "war crimes" committed by Israel and Palestinian terrorist groups during the last war in Gaza, in 2014.
Israel is studying the advisability of a ceasefire, a senior Israeli military official told reporters on Wednesday, asserting, however, that Israel was ready for an extension of the offensive.
Since the current hostilities erupted on May 10, Gaza-based terrorists have fired nearly 4,000 rockets at central and southern Israel.
The IDF has mounted some 820 airstrikes, targeting Hamas and Islamic Jihad infrastructure, weapon arsenals, and top commanders.

Gaza's Health Ministry claimed that 219 people have been killed since the fighting began. It does not count the Palestinian civilians killed due to misfiring rockets landing within the Strip. The IDF says that over 500 Hamas rockets have failed to cross the border, hitting the Strip.
Rocket fire from Gaza has killed 13 Israelis, one soldier and 12 civilians, and left upward of 700 wounded.
