It was Biden's toughest public pressure so far on this matter, with the president asking Netanyahu in a telephone call to move toward "the path to a ceasefire," according to a White House statement on their conversation.
Pressure has been mounting Biden, too, to do more as the death toll in the conflict has topped 200.
"The two leaders had a detailed discussion on the state of events in Gaza, Israel's progress in degrading the capabilities of Hamas and other terrorist elements, and ongoing diplomatic efforts by regional governments and the United States," the officials White House readout stated.
Operation Guardian of the Walls entered its 10th day on Wednesday, with Israeli airstrikes pounding the Gaza Strip's terrorist targets and Hamas firing indiscriminately on Israeli civilians.
Since the outbreak of the conflict, Hamas has fired over 3,500 rockets into Israel, claimed the lives of at least 12 Israeli residents and wounded over 650 people.
