In a series of posts to social media, Friday, Smotrich, who up until January was a member of the Yamina faction, accused Bennett of "betraying the nationalist camp."
He said that when he broke away from Yamina to form the Religious Zionist Party he did so in preparation of "this exact moment," and so that "the religious Zionists would not be partners to the great betrayal by Bennett, [Ayelet] Shaked, and the little gang of wheelers and dealers and the yes-men they've consolidated around them."
He called Yamina members "a handful of power-hungry opportunists who betrayed [their campaign promises] to realize the endless political aspirations of one man who has repeatedly failed the public test and is forcing himself on the public through political stunts."
