A Spanish woman married to a Palestinian man has been arrested by Israeli security forces on suspicion of involvement in terrorist activity and funding terrorism for the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.

Juana Ruiz Sanchez was detained two weeks ago in Bethlehem, and according to Spanish media, is being held in Israel's HaSharon Prison.
Sanchez has been married to her Palestinian husband for 35 years. She works for an NGO that provides medical services. While the exact circumstances that led to her arrest were unknown, one theory is that she diverted some of the organization's funds for use in banned activities.
Israel Hayom has learned that the Shin Bet security agency is leading the investigation and that Israel and Spain are in contact regarding her arrest. Sanchez has met with Spanish consular representatives.
