Following a series of tests conducted by the Missile Defense Organization and the Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, the system "successfully intercepted and destroyed targets simulating existing and emerging threats, including the simultaneous interception of multiple drones as well as a salvo of rockets and missiles."
The Iron Dome made its first interception of a rocket in Israeli skies a decade ago. Since 2011, it has successfully intercepted more than 2,500 projectiles and is considered a critical component of Israel's national security.
In the face of the various threats from our enemies, the new capabilities and technological leaps provide the political echelon and the defense establishment with operation flexibility, which is crucial for national security, Defense Minister Benny Gantz said.
"I would like to thank the technological teams at the Missile Defense Organization, Refael [Advanced Defense Systems] and other partner industries, thanks to them, Israelis can sleep peacefully," he added.
