Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that "this is great news for the Arab community in Israel.
"I thank the ministers of government for authorizing the proposal whose purpose is to address criminal phenomena in the Arab sector and to strengthen the sense of personal security of residents of Arab towns," the premier added.
"This is an important decision that will greatly benefit Arab society and improve the level of security in the sector," Netanyahu concluded.
With Israeli elections upcoming next month, Netanyahu's Likud party has been openly courting the Arab vote as it seeks to receive more mandates from uncharted constituents.
Earlier Monday, speaking to Arab municipal leaders, the prime minister implored them to recruit the public to get vaccinated in order to stem the coronavirus pandemic.

"There is still much fake news," Netanyahu said, adding, "there is still a need to vaccinate the general public, but first the elderly. Those above 50 consist almost 100 percent of all death and severe illness cases, which causes influxes in hospitals and of course leads to tragedies."
