A 32-year-old mother of four who was 30 weeks pregnant died of complications from COVID-19 at Hadassah Ein Karem Medical Center in Jerusalem on Sunday. Attempts to save the fetus also failed.

Osnat Ben-Sheetrit was a member of the Haredi community in the Har Shmuel neighborhood of Givat Zeev. Her youngest child is only one year old.
The hospital put out a statement explaining that Ben-Sheetrist had been hospitalized on its COVID intensive care unit with respiratory difficulty last Tuesday, and was in serious condition. According to the hospital, her condition began to worsen on Saturday evening when she went into multi-system failure.
The hospital alerted a team of experts, including a gynecologist and midwives, as well as emergency care physicians, an ECMO team, and heart surgeons. Ben-Sheetrit underwent a caesarean section in an attempt to save her baby, which was unsuccessful.
Ben-Sheetrit's sister-in-law put out a message saying, "COVID is brutal, get vaccinated."
