No less than seven housing projects are currently under construction in Nof HaGalil (formerly Nazareth Illit). Most of the 1,500 new apartments are being offered as part of the government's Buyer's Price affordable housing program.

Mayor Ronen Plot explains that housing construction is an important component in the city's urban renewal and transformation into an attractive destination for young couples and families with children. "In recent years, Nof HaGalil has undergone a comprehensive renewal process. The investment can be seen everywhere, improving the city's quality of life."
The first construction project was launched about six months ago on Rimon Street. 104 housing units in three 10-story buildings are now in advanced building stages. Construction of the second project, the Mitzpor Barak neighborhood on Jezreel Street, began last week. The project includes 212 apartments, 137 to be offered at a Buyer's Price discount.
Three other projects are under construction on the city's northern side, two of them in the Shamir neighborhood. One includes 170 Buyer's Price apartments and another 125 apartments to be sold on the open market; the second includes 55-row cottages. Construction began this week on another project on Har Yona, with 229 apartments offered by the government company Dira Lehaskir ("Apartment for Rent"). These include 49 apartments to be sold on the open market and 180 for long-term rent of at least 10 years. A quarter of the latter apartments will be offered at a discount for eligible buyers.
A sixth project is under construction in the Haredi neighborhood Har Yona Gimel, with 500 new apartments, most of which were marketed to Haredi communities. A housing project for military personnel is planned for the eastern slopes of Churchill Forest, with 139 apartments soon to be marketed by the IDF housing administration.
The municipality has announced that additional projects, including 3,000 more units, are in advanced planning stages. The district planning committee recently approved a municipal zoning plan for the construction of 1,300 housing units in the Mul Tavor project at the entrance to Churchill Forest.
"The project is now in detailed infrastructure planning stages. It will be published for tenders next year," said Municipal Engineer Doron Levav, adding that the municipality and the Urban Renewal Authority are promoting three Evacuation and Reconstruction (Pinui-Binui) complexes.
Yet another project, with 1,500 units on land facing the Jezreel Valley, above Highway 6400, has been submitted to the district committee for approval. The municipality is also advancing a land rezoning statute in industrial areas Bet and Gimel, hoping to use the land for commerce, services, employment, and housing.
In recent weeks, construction has begun on the Nof HaGalil-Haifa light rail line, with 7 stations planned throughout the city.
The city's flagship project, a huge municipal park, is in its last construction stages and is to be inaugurated this summer. It will include a petting zoo, an ecological lake, a planetarium, an astronomical observatory, a skating rink, an extreme zip-line course, a musical park, a botanical garden, and an amphitheater.
The construction of the new government complex will soon be completed. Future plans include the expansion of three commercial centers – the Ofer Center, the Mul Harim Center, and the Power Center – and the construction of a hi-tech cluster.

"Nof HaGalil is becoming an attractive city for young families from all over Israel," concluded Mayor Plot.
The campaign for promoting positive migration to Nof HaGalil follows the city's renaming, the enhancement of its leisure and community activities, and the construction of sophisticated family-oriented leisure facilities, funded by the Ministry for the Development of the Negev and the Galilee. The campaign is intended to attract young adults and families to settle in the city.
