Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Monday that he expects to speak on the phone with US President Joe Biden soon and "as he [Biden] sees fit."

"He is making calls to world leaders according to the order he sees fit. He has not reached the Middle East yet," the prime minister said.
"The Israel-US alliance is strong and so is our friendship of almost 40 years, though we may not agree on everything," he added. "I spoke with President Biden right after his victory."
Netanyahu's remarks come after Nikki Haley, the former US envoy to the United Nations, accused the Biden administration of "snubbing Israel" and "cozying up to enemies like Iran."
"You look at the fact that they are looking at getting back the Iran [nuclear] deal. What does that mean? That means you're going to lift all the sanctions that we've put on Iran," she said.

There has been contact between senior US officials and their Israeli counterparts. National Security Adviser Meir Ben-Shabbat was the third person in his position to get a call from his American counterpart Jake Sullivan, and US Secretary of State Antony Blinken called Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi, on the day after his confirmation.
