Labor, Social Affairs and Social Services Minister Itzik Shmuli announced Wednesday that he will be "taking time" to explore his future political path, having left the Labor in the wake of MK Merav Michaeli's election as party leader.

Shmuli said he will also resign his ministry. "Leaders have to own their mistakes and take responsibility for their actions. My heart tells me this is the right thing to do," he said in a Facebook post.
