Israeli actress Shira Haas was nominated for a Golden Globe Award on Wednesday for her role in Netflix's runaway hit show Unorthodox.

Haas will vie for the Best Actress – Television Motion Picture award against Cate Blanchett for Mrs. America, Anya Taylor-Joy for The Queen's Gambit, Nicole Kidman for The Undoing, and Daisy Edgar-Jones for Normal People.
Unorthodox tells the story of 19-year-old Esther "Esty" Shapiro from a Haredi community in New York, who runs away to Berlin to find her estranged mother and discover the secular life. The show was inspired by Deborah Feldman's 2012 autobiography Unorthodox: The Scandalous Rejection of My Hasidic Roots.
Jewish actor Sacha Baron-Cohen was nominated for best actor in Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, and for supporting actor in Trial of the Chicago 7, where he played activist Abbie Hoffman.
The 78th Annual Golden Globe Awards will be held on Feb. 28, 2021.
