Outgoing US President Donald Trump said Tuesday that the impeachment effort led by Democrats in Congress is "of the greatest witch hunts in the history of politics."
In a brief statement to reporters before heading to Texas, Trump referred to recent events that unfolded at Capitol Hill and reports suggesting that more armed protests could take place in the coming weeks prior to President-elect Joe Biden's inauguration.

"We want no violence," stressed Trump, but warned that "This impeachment is causing tremendous anger, and you're doing it, and it's a terrible thing that they're doing. For [House of Representatives Speaker] Nancy Pelosi and [Senate minority leader] Chuck Schumer to continue on this path, I think it's causing tremendous danger to our country and it's causing tremendous anger."
On Silicon Valley tech firms banning the incumbent Republican from their platforms, he said that they have made a "catastrophic mistake."
"They're dividing and divisive and they're showing something that I've been predicting for a long time," he asserted.
Adding pressure on the beleaguered president, Democrats began the process of impeaching Trump for a second time, while calling on Vice President Mike Pence to invoke the 25th amendment of the constitution and remove Trump from office.
