Archaeologists in Turkey have discovered a stone ax in the ancient city of Anavarza, Adana province, believed to be 2,000 years old.
The ancient city of Anavarza located at Kozan village of southern Adana province, the city is one of the most important settlements in Anatolia on the UNESCO World Heritage Temporary List.

The ax from the Chalcolithic period must have been used for religious ceremonies and rituals.
The excavations at the city had begun in 2013.

During the previous months of 2020 restoration work was completed in the gate of the ancient city of Anavarza, the gate was built in memory of the victory of the Romans against the Persians in the 3rd century and is called the "Triumphal Arch."
The ancient city, also known as an "invincible city" and has the traces of Hellenistic, Roman, Eastern Roman, Sasanian, and Ottoman periods.
