The government's decision that all travelers entering Israel from any country must be taken to a state-run "corona hotel" facility for a two-week quarantine got off to a bumpy start this week when a group of Israelis who returned from Dubai on Thursday morning refused to be taken to state hotels for quarantine and demanded to be allowed to quarantine at home.

Arguments erupted between passengers and Health Ministry officials stationed at the airport. "Shame on you! You should learn from Dubai how to treat people!" one man shouted.
Some passengers were issued exemptions from the hotel quarantine, mostly on the grounds of medical conditions.
Some 10,000 people have returned to Israel from abroad in the last two days, the majority of whom were visting the United Arab Emirates after that country opened its borders to Israeli passport holders under the Abraham Accords. After the announcement of mandatory hotel stays, some Israelis decided to extend their stay in Dubai.
While Ben-Gurion Airport continues to operate as usual, some flights might be canceled due to underbooking.
