Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu lashed out against Defense Minister Benny Gantz on Tuesday, just hours before the Knesset was set to dissolve due to the ongoing budget stalemate.

"Gantz capitulated and let Justice Minister Avi Nissankoren run the show," Netanyahu said, referring to Blue and White's efforts to stop Netanyahu's various appointments and refusal to reform the Justice Ministry in a way that would have saved the 2019 unity deal between Likud and Blue and White.
A last-ditch effort to pass a budget by the mandatory deadline failed earlier this week, putting the Knesset on borrowed time. Under Israel law, without a budget passed by Dec. 23, the Knesset will have to hold an early election in three months.
Netanyahu said that holding another national election – the fourth in two years – was irresponsible and falls squarely on Gantz's shoulders.
