The video was taken in 2019, when Maydan was serving in the IDF, and shows her at her office, staging a laugh and a little dance at another soldier's request.
The video was originally posted on Facebook, where it received a few dozens likes, but one of her friends recently uploaded it to TikTok. Within days, the clip garnered tens of millions of "Likes" and "Shares" making her a star in China, Russia, the US, and Europe.
"It's insane," she told Israel Hayom. "I like goofing around and one day, a friend offered to film a couple of minutes when we had time. Next thing I know, my laughter goes viral. Given that I don't even have a TikTok account, it's really crazy."
The video now has 7,000 versions on various social media platforms and many fans have suggested that Maydan turns it into a ringtone.
But was the laugh real? Maydan said the goofy version "is pretty close to the real thing. I've already had people on the bus recognize me from the video by my laugh."
