A man in his seventies shot Tuesday his terminally ill wife and ended his own life, the Shamir Medical Center in central Israel reported.

The tragedy occurred in the hospital's Neurosurgery Department. The two were announced dead on the scene.
The hospital director, Dr. Osnat Levtzion-Korach, said that an investigation is underway as to how the man entered the premises with a weapon.
"Everything happened so quickly," an eyewitness said. "It took all of four seconds for him to shoot his wife and commit suicide. The bullet [went through the wall and] injured one of the patients in the next room."
