Shirbit Insurance on Thursday refused to pay the $1 million ransom demand posed by hackers that stole its database earlier this week, prompting them to leak more information about the company's clients.

On Friday morning, the hackers published documents including personal information belonging to clients, as well as photographs of company employees on its social media accounts.
"Following consultations with experts in the field, we have reached the conclusion that the goals of cyber terrorism are strategic rather than financial," the company said in a statement.
