Some two-thirds of new patients who tested positive for the coronavirus in the last 24 hours are east Jerusalem residents, the Health Ministry reported Monday.
There were 1,142 active coronavirus cases in the city as of midnight Sunday. Some 96 people tested positive for the virus the day before, and 67 Jerusalemites recovered.

Israel Hayom found that despite outreach efforts, some of the residents in the Arab neighborhoods of Jerusalem still did not wear masks or maintain social distancing as required by the Health Ministry. A resident of one of the neighborhoods in the east of the capital told Israel Hayom, "They don't follow the guidelines. They do as they please. It is dangerous. No wonder there's an increase in coronavirus cases."
