On Thursday evening, ISIS announced that it is responsible for the pipeline explosion that occurred earlier that day between Israel and Egypt. The news was published by the Amaq News Agency, a news outlet linked to the terrorist organization and is often the first to post claims of responsibility for the group.

The Energy Ministry noted that the blown pipeline did not carry natural gas from Israel to Egypt. Governor of North Sinai, Mohamed Abdel-Fadil Shousha, said that the blast is not going to affect the gas supply and that officials were investigating the cause of the incident.
Following the announcement by the governor of North Sinai, The American Chevron Corporation, which operates the Tamar and Leviathan drilling rigs nearby, also assured that the explosion would not affect its gas supply either.
"The supply of gas from Tamar and Leviathan continues as usual. There has been no interruption in the gas supply to our customers in Israel and the region," the company reported.
The companies started distributing the gas flow through multiple substations in the aftermath of the Arab Spring. Therefore, if one pipe or part of a pipeline is blown up, the gas will be routed to secondary stations, and the gas distribution will remain intact.
