Maj. Gen. (res.) Roni Numa, who is in charge of the government's efforts to stop the spread of coronavirus in Israel's Haredi sector, reported on Tuesday that among the ultra-Orthodox, the number of new confirmed COVID cases is no longer on the decline.
"In some places, new cases are still dropping, and in others … we are seeing a sharp rise," Numa said at a press briefing.

Numa said that there were currently no plans to close yeshivas, as they are not locations in which a rise in the number of cases has been noted. However, Numa has linked the rise in new cases to the opening of the school year in the Haredi sector.
On Tuesday, 78 of the 710 new confirmed cases nationwide were in the Haredi sector (11%). The percentage of positive test results in the Haredi sector stands at 2.8%, compared to 2.1% nationwide.
