The IDF struck Hamas targets in the Gaza Strip in the early hours of Friday morning, after terrorists fired two rockets into Israel.
The rockets were reportedly fired at the southern city of Ashkelon and nearby communities. One rocket was intercepted by the Iron Dome defense system while the other hit an open area, causing no damage or injuries.

Military aircraft attacked a Hamas weapons manufacturing facility and underground infrastructure in response, the IDF said,
"The IDF takes all terrorist activity against Israeli territory very seriously and is prepared to act as much as necessary to counter any attempt to harm Israel's citizens and its sovereignty," the IDF Spokesperson's Unit said in a statement.
"The Hamas terrorist organization is fully responsible for what transpires inside and outside of the Gaza Strip, and it will be held accountable for terrorist acts against Israeli citizens."
The rocket fire, which came late Thursday night, was the third time in a week that rockets have been fired from the Gaza Strip towards Israel.
Defense Minister and Alternate Prime Minister Benny Gantz, en route to Israel from meetings in Washington DC, held a consultation with security officials.
Islamic Jihad official Ahmed al-Mudallal was quoted by Palestinian media as warning that "the Palestinian resistance is ready for any confrontation or escalation, and the equation of bombing will be met with bombing is still in place."
