A newly-launched Israeli startup, AirEye, which offers a new security solution for corporate network airspace, will be opening a fundraising round in the next few weeks.
Currently, organizations have to invest in protecting their own networks, both wired and wireless. They often lack control over threats and weaknesses. An "airborne" security attack could entail data breaches, unauthorized network access, or device hijacking.

These threats can stem from the organization's own devices, or neighbor devices or networks. In the past two years, such attack vectors have become more popular among hackers.
AirEye CEO Shlomo Touboul said the new venture addresses "a significant weakness in organizations. In the last few months, we saw widespread attacks on US government authorities, such as the attack on the Nebraska Congress building … and attacks on the Justice Department's air network space that originated in Russia."
Touboul said that during the COVID-19 pandemic, these attacks were gaining momentum worldwide and causing "billions of dollars" in damages.
AirEye's technology, which is based on accumulated knowledge gained by WiFiWall, provides visibility and transparency to the airspace to prevent attacks. The solution does not require software installation or changes to the network configuration, and does not affect network performance.
Ohad Plotnik, who manages the company's activities in the US, said, "Due to the abundance of wireless end points, an intruder can attack a Tel Aviv hospital from the other side of the world by taking control of the wireless component in a nearby café and attack lifesaving machines inside the nearby hospital."
Plotnik was one of the founders of the $200 million cyber company, Aorato, which was sold to Microsoft in 2014. AirEye CTO Amichai Schulman, co-founded Imperva together with Mickey Boodaei, which was sold in 2018 for $2.1 billion to the Thoma Bravo Fund. Touboul himself, a veteran entrepreneur in the cyber security market who sold his first company to Intel, invented the field of Sandbox behavior analysis and founded Finjan and Yogi's Security Systems as well as serving as CEO of Team8's Illusive Networks.
