The community spread of coronavirus shows no sign of ebbing, with 1,936 new cases reported on Thursday.
According to the Ministry of Health, 33,328 tests were carried out Wednesday, with a positivity rate of 5.83%. This puts Israel back on a dangerous path of some 2,000 daily cases.

Officials noted that this could also be attributed to the increase in the number of tests being carried out and that the positivity rate is lower than at the height of the pandemic.
No new coronavirus deaths were reported Thursday, standing at 875. Severe cases of COVID-19 stood at 399 and the number of patients on ventilators was 115.
Israeli officials have yet to decide whether another nationwide lockdown should be imposed. A decision is expected in the coming days, potentially upending plans for many Israelis planning to celebrate the Jewish New Year with family and friends.
