The suspect, a Palestinian from Nablus who apparently had a working permit in Israel, allegedly stabbed the Haredi man shortly after 2 p.m and has been apprehended by the police.
The victim lost consciousness and was evacuated to a nearby hospital by paramedics who had arrived at the scene but was pronounced dead on arrival.
A paramedic who treated the man described the scene: "The man was lying down on the curb suffering from stab wounds and was bleeding profusely. We immediately began life-saving treatment and put in him an ambulance. He was transported to the hospital in critical condition."

A man who witnessed the attack said a member of the public tried to intervene and yelled "terrorist, terrorist!" while chasing the perpetrator with a big club. "He managed to hit the terrorist in the leg just as first responders arrived," he recalled.
The victim was later identified as Rabbi Shay Ohayon. He left behind a wife and four children. He was enrolled in a Haredi educational institution in Kfar Saba and was a member of the Breslov Hassidic group. He was on his way back home when he was murdered.
