A bill designed to reduce gender-based wage disparities passed its second and third Knesset readings on Monday, it what its sponsor said was "the first step" toward eradicating discrimination.
The bill, presented by Likud MK Etty Hava Atia, stipulates that workplaces employing over 518 people must prepare an annual report detailing the average wages of male and female employees and analyzing the wage gap so as to minimize it. The reports must be made public.

"This is the first step in a process that assumes that being forced to publish data will create transparency, reduce gaps, ensure the promotion of equality, and eradicate discrimination," she said.
