The cabinet approved on Sunday a financial aid package that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Finance Minister Israel Katz announced a week and a half ago.
Netanyahu said at the start of the weekly meeting, "Today, we are submitting for cabinet approval the plan for grants for every citizen. Afterwards, we will pass it on to the Knesset for lightning legislation so that the money reaches you, the citizens of Israel, as quickly as possible.

"We are also working on additional plans to encourage the economy and channel funds to those who have been hurt by the coronavirus. We will continue to move the wheels of the economy in order to put people back to work," the prime minister said.
The aid grants to be disbursed are worth a total of 6 billion shekels ($1.76 billion), and will be allocated to all Israelis, with the exception of those who earn over 640,000 shekels ($187,500) per year, and public employees who earn over 30,000 shekels ($8,790) a month.
Citizens who fall into the following categories will receive larger grants: those who receive disability stipends, those who receive income assistance, impoverished new immigrants, unemployed Israelis over age 67, and the elderly on assisted income.
