The move further aims "to increase the operational effectiveness of the units. Wing 7 will function as a complementary and unique component to other IAF activities, providing special depth in routine and emergency operations."
In what represents a "conceptual change" for IAF tactics, the new squadron is said to bring together various units, including the Shaldag special forces, Unit 669, the corps' search, rescue and extraction force, and the Forward Landing Unit, a dedicated intelligence, the military said.
