The number of fatalities stood at 350, and 18,652 people have recovered.
Since March 24, Israel has conducted a total of 1,136,196 corona tests. The number of cases is doubling every 16 days, compared to every three days during the peak of the first wave.
As has been widely reported, the second wave is seeing a much higher rate of infection among young people, with 27% of the new cases reported Friday morning appearing in Israelis ages 0-19, and another 37% of Israelis ages 20-39 testing positive. Israelis ages 40-59 accounted for 22% of the new cases in the past 24 hours, and Israelis ages 60-79 -- whose age puts them at the highest risk -- accounted for only 9% of the new cases.
Jerusalem still leads the nation in the number of symptomatic cases, with 2,282 recorded Friday, up from 1,161 a week ago. The capital is followed by Tel Aviv-Jaffa, with 1,393 symptomatic patients on Friday, compared to 890 a week ago, and Bnei Brak, with 1,177 symptomatic cases, compared to 741 a week ago.
