The IDF launched a wide-scale search immediately. Hundreds of soldiers, including military police officers, volunteers from the Eilat rescue unit, and Israel Police officers canvassed the area near the base in search of Fishler. Military and police helicopters assisted the search from the air.
The Military Police have launched an investigation into his death, as is routine in cases involving noncombat deaths of military personnel.
