The Likud plans to present the Knesset with amended legislation seeking to regulate settlement constructions retroactively.
The bill, sponsored by MK Michal Shir, was drafted Wednesday following a ruling by the High Court of Justice repealing the so-called regulation law, which retroactively gives permits to some 4,000 settlement homes built on privately-owned Palestinian land in Judea and Samaria.

Criticizing the ruling, Shir said, "The repealing of the regulation law is a show of blatant interference in [government] policy by the judiciary. Given the timing – as the sovereignty plan is being discussed – this cannot be a coincidence.
"We, as elected officials, must fulfill our promise to the public and apply sovereignty to all Jewish communities in Judea and Samaria."
The ruling, she warned, "Invites [High Court] petitions by radical left-wing groups that want to see as many settlers as possible become homeless. We, as public officials, have the obligation to make sure no Israeli loses his home, lest of all in Judea and Samaria."
