The American-Israel mapping committee that is tasked with delineating the areas in which Israel will apply its sovereignty in Judea and Samaria has yet to complete its job, officials on both sides have confirmed.

The American members of the committee are US Ambassador to Israel David Friedman, Friedman's senior adviser Aryeh Lightstone and Scott Leith, who is the director of Israeli and Palestinian affairs the National Security Council.
The Israeli officials include the acting director general at the Prime Minister's Office, the head of the National Security Council and the Knesset speaker.
The committee was formed after the Trump administration rolled out its peace plan at the end of January and has since held many meetings.
That's why both sides stress that they have yet to finalize a map for the Israeli move. They have said that in order to counter the settler leaders' assertion that they have obtained the committee's comprehensive and accurate description of the areas in question.
In recent days, the settler leaders have met with cabinet ministers and MKs from the Right and showed them the map of the supposed Palestinian state under the Trump plan.
But the map they have shown does not represent the reality of the committee's work. According to the Trump plan, a Palestinian state will only be established if the Palestinians meet a whole host of requirements that are impossible as far as they are concerned.
Among other things, they are required to fully disarm the violent groups, stop paying terrorists, and end the legal action against Israel at the International Criminal Court at The Hague.
They are also required to hold negotiations with Israel. So long as they do not do all this, they will not be allowed to enjoy the benefits of the plan and won't get the territory that is allotted to them.
On top of that, most of the area that the settlers have marked as Palestinians in the map is already under the Palestinian Authority's control. It has been for the past 25 years, ever since Israel implemented the second phase of the Oslo Accords; Israel still has overall security control over that area, with Israeli forces acting freely there.
So long as the Palestinians refuse to do their part under the peace plan, Israel's freedom of action will not be impeded in those areas.
Politicians who have met with settler leaders in recent days have told Israel Hayom that the map presented by settlers make it look as if the Palestinians will get the territory immediately after Israel applies sovereignty.
The CEO of the settler umbrella group, Yesha Council, Yigal Dilmoni, told Israel Hayom: "This map is part of the Trump administration's peace plan, as a conceptual map. That map is unacceptable, and if changes have been introduced, we are unaware of them and we want to see them.
