Blue and White leader and Defense Minister Benny Gantz burst out of a meeting with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after Likud MK and Transporation Minister Miri Regev said he was unfit to serve as prime minister.

Gantz, who is also the alternate prime minister because he is supposed to replace Netanyahu under a rotation agreement that would take effect in 18 months, was outraged after Regev said that "he is not ripe for the job of prime minister."
Likud officials said that "the campaign is over and it is time to work toward improving the lives of the Israeli people."
The Knesset earlier on Wednesday approved in a preliminary reading a bill that would allow more government officials to step aside temporarily from the Knesset so long as they are part of the cabinet. The new language, which includes deputy ministers as well, will have to go through three more readings.
