Israeli helicopters fired several rockets from at targets inside southern Syria, Arab media reported on Friday, the latest in what intelligence sources say is an increase in Israeli strikes against Iranian-backed militias.
"From the occupied Golan airspace, enemy Israeli helicopters attacked positions in the southern region with several missiles," Syrian state news agency SANA said shortly after midnight.

There was no immediate comment from the Israeli military.
Syrian Opposition sources said several militia posts near Quneitra, the area on the Syria-Israel border were targeted in the attack. SANA said the strike caused "only material damage." It did not report any casualties or say what was targeted.
Bases and convoys run by the Lebanon-based Iranian-backed Hezbollah terrorist group, which has a strong presence in the Syrian Golan Heights, have been hit by Israel in recent years. Israel has often stated that it would not allow Iran to deliver "game-changing" weapons to Hezbollah.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Britain-based monitor, said that Friday's attack targeted military positions of Iranian forces and pro-Iran militias.
The attack follows a series of strikes on Iran-linked forces in Syria in recent weeks.
On Tuesday, Defense Minister Naftali Bennett appeared to confirm that Israel was behind an alleged airstrike on pro-Iranian forces in Syria the day before.
"We have moved from blocking Iran's entrenchment in Syria to forcing it out of there, and we will not stop," Bennett said in a statement.
"We will not allow more strategic threats to grow just across our borders without taking action," he said. "We will continue to take the fight to the enemy's territory."
