A new website operated by the Health Ministry and the Federation of Local Authorities in Israel is keeping tabs on how many Israelis are following the restrictions on movement instituted by the government to check the spread of coronavirus, and staying at home.
The site provides a weighted calculation of statistics from a number of different sources, all anonymous. "The index weighs the percentage of Israelis who stayed at home or near their homes on a given date using data from the 77 largest cities and towns in Israel, which are home to 75% of the country's population," the site says.

According to the site, on Saturday, April 11, 78.2% of Israelis stayed home – an increase of 4 percentage points from Friday, April 10, and 1 point from the preceding Saturday, April 4.
The site also ranks the cities with the highest level of compliance with government instructions. In first place was Modi'in-Maccabim-Reut, followed by Rosh Haayin, Hod Hasharon, Kfar Yona, Kfar Saba, Nes Ziona, Kiryat Ono, Kiryat Atta, Raanana, and Rishon LeZion.
The index also measures the number of car trips taken by Israel's residents as a whole, which declined over the course of March. On March 7, before travel restrictions were put in place, 61.3% of Israelis traveled somewhere by car, compared to 28.1% on April 11.
