Jews in Britain comprise a disproportionately large number of the nation's 465 victims of COVID-19, the Daily Mail reported over the weekend, quoting the Board of Deputies of British Jews.
Britain's Jewish population, which amounts to 0.5% of the country's total population, is succumbing to coronavirus at a rate 10 times higher than the population as a whole, with one in 20 COVID-19 deaths being members of the Jewish community, the Mail said.

The Board of Deputies is urging the Jewish community to do "everything it can" to follow government instructions and stay at home.
Rabbi Levi Schapiro of the Jewish Community Council of London, said that the city's orthodox community was taking government guidelines "very seriously."
President of the Board of Deputies, Marie van der Zyl, told the Mail that the coronavirus pandemic was a "devastating national and international tragedy."
"There is no higher value in Judaism than preserving life, so please do everything you can to follow the government's guidelines and stay home unless you absolutely cannot," Van der Zyl said.
