A mother and her four-week-old daughter were hospitalized Tuesday after contracting the novel coronavirus.
The two patients are isolated together in a negative pressure room in the pediatric intensive care unit at Rambam Health Care Campus in Haifa.
They were tested after the baby was brought to the hospital with a high fever, even though they had not been abroad recently or come in contact with any confirmed corona carriers.

According to the hospital, the baby has a light case of COVID-19, the respiratory illness caused by the novel virus, despite her fever, while the mother is asymptomatic.
Earlier this week, another infant, a two-month-old preemie who was already in serious condition at the NICU at Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem, also tested positive for the virus.
The number of Israeli coronavirus fatalities rose to five on Wednesday morning, with at least 2,030 Israelis diagnosed with the virus.
