The number of positive cases rose to 24,747 from 21,157 a day earlier as Europe's worst outbreak of the deadly virus continued to expand.
The walls of Jerusalem's Old City were lit in green, white and red – the colors of the Italian flag – and a caption reading, "ITALY, Jerusalem stands with you."

In Tel Aviv, a passerby said it was a moving gesture towards the Italians.
"Tonight the municipality hall is lit with the colors of the Italian flag in solidarity with our twin city, #Milan, with the Italian people, and all those affected by the #CoronaVirus. With joint efforts, we will be able to go through these difficult times. Andrà tutto bene!," Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai tweeted.
