Netanyahu has not exhibited any symptoms but experts at the Prime Minister's Office advised him to get checked after it transpired that he was potentially exposed to the virus while visiting first responders handling the crisis.
The concern emerged after the Health Ministry revealed that a carrier had been in the same venue during Netanyahu's visit, although they were never in the same room.
Older people are generally at a higher risk of infection. Netanyahu, 70, is believed to be in good health and has no apparent underlying medical conditions that could exacerbate his risk.
As of Sunday, it's been confirmed that at least 200 Israelis have the coronavirus that has led to at least 155,000 deaths around the world. No deaths have been linked to the virus in Israel.
