In his announcement, Tropper wrote that "the surgery went well, and the kidney was transplanted successfully."

"For the next few days I'll be in the hospital, and then I'll go home to recover," he said.
Tropper, who is part of Blue and White's election campaign effort, added: "I will, of course, be available and to help with anything, but from just a little farther away for the time being. I hope to return to full strength as soon as possible."
Politicians from across the political spectrum praised their colleague's altruistic act.
Blue and White MK Ram Shefa tweeted on Monday: "Chili is a rare man, I am proud to be a friend and colleague to such a special person."
Tropper was guided through the complex medical process by Matnat Chaim (Gift of Life), a nonprofit organization "dedicated to encouraging healthy volunteers to donate kidneys to patients who require a transplant." The organization was established in 2009 by Rabbi Yeshayahu Heber, who serves as its chairman and chief administrator.
"I am full of appreciation to Tropper for the kidney donation, a life-saving donation that solves a problem with no other solution," Heber said. "We are really pleased that Tropper not only saved a person's life, but can also serve as an example and means to raise awareness of kidney donation in Israel. He is our 780th donor."
According to Heber, the patient is an Israeli citizen from northern Israel.
Tropper is the first Knesset member to donate a kidney in Israel.
