Israel noted an all-time record of live-donor kidney transplants in 2019, with 248 donations compared to 231 such procedures in 2018 and 222 in 2017, data released this week by the National Transplant Center – Adi said.
The data showed that overall, the number of live-donor kidney transplants has quadrupled over the last decade.

A total of 575 people were granted a new lease on life in 2019 following an organ transplant.
The National Transplant Center noted that Israelis are becoming more open to the idea of organ donation: 68% of the families approach on the issue – 73 families out of 106 – agreed to donate their loved ones' organs, compared to 53% in 2018.
Alongside live-donor transplants, the National Transplant Center facilitated 315 standard transplants, including 143 kidney transplants, 76 liver transplants, 21 heart transplants, and 52 lung transplants.
As of January 2020, 1,153 Israelis are on the national transplant list, and over the past year 59 people died while waiting for a transplant.
The National Transplant Center currently has 975,053 donors on file – a 30% increase from 2018.
