A new exhibition focusing on Israeli art was inaugurated last week in Japan as part of the DesignArtTokyo 2019 festival.

DesignArt Tokyo is among the largest art design festivals in Japan. It is held each year during the autumn, with art, fashion, and food from a variety of countries on display.

The 20 Israeli artists who were chosen to show their works in the Japanese festival, under the title Garden of Eden, took part in the Jerusalem Design Week festival last June in Israel.

Apart from having Israeli artists showcase their work, Israel was granted the honor of being an official "partner country" throughout the festival.

The launching of the Israeli exhibition was attended by Jerusalem Affairs and Heritage Minister Zeev Elkin and Israeli Ambassador to Japan Yaffa Ben-Ari, who said she was "thrilled to share with the Japanese people Israel's creativity and innovative spirit."

Elkin, who also spoke at the event, said that "Japan is viewed as one of the most technologically advanced countries, affecting everyone." He added that "Israel is not just about the Bible, it is a high-tech powerhouse and proudly calls itself a startup nation."
