Former educator Malka Leifer, who is accused of sexually abusing her students in Australia, will remain imprisoned in Israel while a judge considers whether she should be released on house arrest, the Supreme Court said on Saturday, overturning a lower court's decision to place her under house arrest.

Australia wants Leifer extradited for allegedly sexually abusing children while working as a principal in an ultra-Orthodox school in Melbourne. Prosecutors say she is feigning mental illness to dodge extradition.
Leifer, who headed the Adass Israel School in Melbourne, fled to Israel from Australia in 2008, days before allegations of sexual abuse against her surfaced.
She was arrested in Israel in 2014, following an undercover police investigation at Interpol's request.
Australian authorities plan to charge her with 74 counts of child sexual abuse. Leifer, a dual Australian-Israeli citizen, denies any wrongdoing.
