An Iraqi security official and a militia commander said early Monday that a new airstrike has targeted a military base in the western Anbar province.
Sunday's strike missed the base, landing outside the perimeter and causing no damage or casualties, they claimed.

Twitter users, however, reported seeing black smoke billowing from the militia's compound near the city of Fallujah, an important Sunni stronghold in Anbar.
The airstrike was the latest in a series of unclaimed strikes on weapons depots and bases of Iran-backed militias in Iraq.
The Popular Mobilization Units blame the string of bombings on Israel, which frequently targets Iranian interests in neighboring Syria, and recently in Iraq as well.
A PMU commander told The Associated Press that the base is 120 kilometers (75 miles) from the Syrian border.
It was not clear whether the attack was carried out by a drone or jet.
Last Tuesday, unidentified warplanes struck Shiite militia targets in the Al Bukamal region of eastern Syria.
According to reports, the airstrikes were carried out near the Iraqi border and targeted the Popular Mobilization Units. One Iraqi news channel pointed to Israel as the perpetrator of one of the attacks.
