Israeli aircraft carried out multiple strikes on Hamas military positions in the Gaza Strip early Monday morning after terrorists based in the coastal enclave fired three rockets on southern Israel.
The rockets were intercepted by the Iron Dome defense system. No injuries were reported, but 16 people across the Israeli communities adjacent to the border reportedly suffered shock and were treated by paramedics.

Debris from one of the rockets that were intercepted hit an empty building in one of the Israeli communities causing minor damage.
The IDF said the airstrikes included one on the office of a Hamas commander in the northern Gaza Strip. There were no reports of casualties.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has called a special meeting of the Diplomatic-Security Cabinet for Monday morning to discuss the escalation on the northern and southern borders.
It was not immediately clear who fired the rockets from Gaza.
"The IDF holds Hamas responsible for any aggression carried out from Gaza against Israel," the military said in a statement.
Hamas spokesman Hazem Kassem accused Israeli media of reporting "fake news," saying that "when one of the resistance groups fires [on Israel] it claims responsibility for it. Hamas has not done so. Israeli media is reporting fake news falsly accusing the resistance groups of rocket fire so Israel can justify its aggression toward the people in Gaza."
The fire from Gaza came after Israel staged airstrikes in Syria on Saturday against Iranian drones being readied to attack Israel.
