Hamas sources have told the London-based New Arab website that recent attempts to breach the border with Israel are a reflection of "urges" among its members in the Gaza Strip and were not carried out at the terrorist group's orders or authorized by the Hamas leadership.
According to Hamas sources, the group and its military wing is known for its discipline in the field. In addition, the sources claimed that some of these activities are an expression of statements made by the terrorist organizations in the enclave, among them Palestinian Islamic Jihad and Hamas, in light of the current crisis there.

The sources explained that the humanitarian crisis plaguing the coastal enclave, alongside "Israeli aggression" in the West Bank and Jerusalem, and the "repeated infiltration" of Al-Aqsa Mosque" were what led to the firing of rockets at Israel on Friday.
The sources admitted that there was ongoing internal Palestinian dialogue on the recent attempts to breach the border, and expressed concern such action would lead to an "undesirable crisis" at this point in time, in a reference to the possibility that a war could break out in Gaza.
Gaza's Health Ministry identified the three terrorists killed while trying to cross Israel's border as Mahmoud al-Walayda, Mohammed Abu Namus, and Mohammed Samir al-Taramsi. Two of the terrorists are known to have recently posted videos inciting to terrorism on their Facebook pages. At their funerals, one of the terrorist's bodies was covered with the green flag of Hamas, the others with the flags of Fatah and Palestinian Islamic Jihad.
On his Facebook page, al-Walayda praised the terrorist killed by IDF forces while trying to breach the border last week.
Comments posted to al-Walayda's page and mourning his death said that he did not belong to the Palestinian Islamic Jihad's military wing, Al-Quds Brigades.
According to Abu Namus' Facebook page, he was a member of Hamas. In one of his posts, Abu Namus praised one of the organization's senior officials, Fathi Hamas (political leader), who made headlines in July when he called on Palestinians overseas to murder Jews at a protest on the border in July.
